GRAY CAT

Gray Cat is the fourth addition to our family. She belonged to a neighbor down the street and a few years ago, she began hanging around our house occasionally. She was an outside cat. We started feeding her a little and she continued to come around our house and sleep on our front steps. When the weather got cold, my husband and I felt sorry for her being outside, so we began letting her in our house. We knew the neighbors who owned her and let them know that their cat was hanging around our house. They said they didn't care and said that if we didn't want her hanging around, just to quit feeding her. Well, we weren't going to do that,(even though we probably should have). The cat started staying at our house more and more, especially since we were letting her inside. I guess she knew a good thing when she found it! Since she wasn't officially our cat, we just started calling her Gray Cat. At that time, we didn't know her name. After awhile, we contacted the neighbors again to let them know she was still at our house. They told us that was OK since their other cats ran her off anyway. Well, it seemed that they didn't care if we kept her, so from that point on, she became our cat. We found out her real name was Sierra, but by that time, she had kind of learned Gray Cat, so the name just stuck.

Gray Cat isn't like our other cats. She's very flighty and doesn't want to be petted much at all. She'll let us know with a swish of her tail or her ears laid back when she's had enough petting. Every now and then she'll let us pet her, but it's usually when she's first waking up. Sometimes when we try and pick her up, she just runs. I'm hoping that when she gets older, she'll calm down.
