PUFF

Puff is the latest member of our family, our 5th cat, and the baby. My husband found her in the backyard of his mom's house in 2004. He had gone by the house while he was at work to let the 2 dogs out that he has there. After he let them out, one of the dogs, a chow, began barking at something and raising a commotion. My husband heard the dog barking and went outside to find that the chow dog had her head under the shed and had obviously cornered something. My husband thought it was probably a possum or rabbit. But when the dog pulled her head out, in her mouth was a little kitten! Well, my husband immediately made her drop the kitten and the little thing ran up a tree. Since my husband had to go back to work, there wasn't anything he could do at that time about the kitten. Several hours later, when he got off work, he went back to the house to see about the kitten. It was still in the tree! He somehow coaxed it down and took it inside. Miraculously, the kitten had not been hurt from being in the dog's mouth! We checked the paper and around the neighborhood for flyers about a lost kitten, but never found anything. We took the kitten to the vet to get it checked out and it turned out that the kitten was a female as she was another Tortie like Speckles. She had a terrible case of ear mites and we immediately got her on some medicine for that. The vet determined that she was about 4 months old. We named her Puff because she likes to pull tissues out of the kleenex box. The name "kleenex" didn't quite fit!
