Speckles is the third cat that we got. She is a Tortoiseshell and she got her name from the "specks" of white in her coat, which she had when she was a kitten. Now her coloring has mottled together. She joined our household in December 1999. Speckles had been dropped at my husband's boss' house, and as he couldn't keep the kitten, he asked my husband to take her to our local Humane Association. Why he didn't do this himself, I don't know, but it definitely turned out to be a blessing for us! Anyway, as my husband was driving with the kitten, he called me and told me where he was going. In the background, I could hear this constant meowing and I

thought "Ohhh, how cute!". I asked my husband to call me when he reached the Humane Association, as I wanted to know how long they would keep her if she didn't get adopted. A few minutes later, my husband called me and said that they didn't have room for her, but they probably would on Monday, and to bring her back then. This was on Thursday and we would have to keep her over the weekend. Well, I KNEW on Monday that I wouldn't want to give her up, so we decided Speckles would have a new home. When she made her first trip to the vet, we were told that she was about 3 or 4 months old. We weren't used to a kitten around the house and found out rather quickly that she gets into everything! But Speckles is fun to have around and we've enjoyed watching her grow!
